Scholarships and Bursaries to Make your Education More Affordable.

St. Stephen's University provides a number of scholarships based on academic merit and potential and bursaries based on financial need. SSU never wants finances to be a barrier to studying with us. As such, we welcome a conversation with our prospective students to help us come up with a financial arrangement that works for everyone.

The scholarships are awarded to students who have displayed high academic achievement or potential in fields related to Theology & Culture, Peace & Justice, or Reconciliation Studies. Decisions for these will be announced three weeks before the start of the new semester. Scholarships and bursaries are available only to students who have been accepted and have confirmed their spot in a full master's degree program or certificate program.

STUDENT LOANS

Canadian students are eligible for student loans if they maintain a 60% course load per semester throughout their studies at St. Stephen's University. At SSU, a 60% course load is 9 credit hours per semester.

Prospective students who wish to use student loans towards their tuition must apply to SSU early and be accepted into one of our programs to give you enough time to apply for and receive student loans.

Please use the links to the right to apply to SSU if you have not already done so and to apply for student loans through your province. If you have any questions about this, please contact our Student Finance Officer, Mary Ellen Fitch.

REMOVING FINANCIAL BARRIERS

Finances shouldn't be a barrier to an SSU education. At St. Stephen's University, we want to do everything we can to make sure that anyone who wants to study with us is able to do so.

So, if you do not think that you will be able to afford our tuition, even with one of the scholarships or bursaries listed above, we invite you to reach out to us and start a conversation — We are eager to come up with a financial arrangement that works for everyone.

If the cost of our tuition is preventing you from applying, we invite you to apply online anyway as the first step to a conversation with us about how to make your academic pilgrimage at SSU more financially feasible. The first step, then, is to apply online, and once you're accepted into your program, we will work with you to come up with a workable solution.
