THE THREE-YEAR MASTER'S DEGREE is for experienced worship leaders with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
“I’ve been leading worship for many years in my church community, and have a regional, national or even international influence. I’m well versed in the practics of leading worship, from arranging bands to administrating a worship community. While my experience level is high, I’m hungry for a deeper study of the foundations of the faith – theologically, historically, culturally and spiritually.
I want my worship leadership and songwriting to be enriched by the classics of history, and further study and reflection on the past and present. I’d like to get my Masters degree while still living where I am, and would like to read and discuss a wide body of literature from the history of the Church. I’d like to write a thesis on an area of passion in my heart, which eventually will be a book based on some of these historical and cultural ideas.”
DURATION: Next Module Begins October 20-31, 2008.
- Three Year Program (two-week intensive modules, 2x per year)
- Final Supervised Thesis (book) writing in third year
- 1 two-week intensive is a study term abroad.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
This Master's program is open to all worship leaders meeting a set criteria of experience and endorsement, and who have also completed the necessary undergraduate requirements to begin their Master’s level coursework. This degree will also be accompanied by a study session abroad, with on-site learning in either Greece/Turkey, or Israel. The program is intended to broaden the student’s historical and cultural reflections on worship, creativity and leadership. Reading and preparatory work will be a part of the program, as well as ongoing writing and the development of a thesis work (a book).

* There is also a $500 continuance fee if thesis work goes beyond the final year.
We strongly recommend that the local church (or church movement) gets behind their worship leader, in a tangible way, in aiding him/her coming to the Master’s program. The local church stands the most to benefit from the deepening reflection of their worship leader(s), and it is a fitting model that the local church take a special offering to send their worship leader(s), or offer to subsidize the travel/tuition in some way.
