Lois Mitchell, PhD

Lois aims to bridge the gaps between theory and practice, between academia and everyday life. In the classroom (and out) Lois challenges students to think deeply about justice, sustainability, globalization, and cross-cultural engagement, all while also thinking about their values and beliefs with a goal of intentionally living according to those values and beliefs in a wonderfully complex and changing world. Lois, her husband Dale, and their two grown kids and four grandkids live on Deer Island where the fishing way of life helps to keep her grounded.
