FEATURED INITIATIVE

The N.D. Lea Centre, a historic two-storey brick building on the SSU campus, is the headquarters of the St. Stephen’s University Ministry Program which has developed effectively over the years to incorporate a Ministry Modular program and is now embarking on exciting opportunities to expand and enhance its impact. Upgrading the N.D. Lea Centre facility is necessary to permit establishment and fulfillment of this new vision.

This building includes two classrooms, offices and residential space for ministry students including a kitchen and eating area, all of which are fully utilized. Many areas both internal and external, however, need attention including the following:

Wiring and Telephone Upgrade                   $ 1600

Window and Sill Restoration                         $ 2500

Back Porch Realignment                              $  3500

Foundation Repair                                       $ 4000

Heating Pump Installation                            $ 12500

Your support for any of these items or a portion of them would be greatly appreciated as an investment in the support of the Ministry Program and its many benefits to the world and as a contribution to the enrichment of the overall quality of life for the ministry students and their instructors for years to come.

other initiatives

As outlined in the previous newsletters there are a number of requirements facing SSU both large and small that need to be met to permit the university to enhance its physical facilities and move forward effectively and efficiently toward fulfilling its mission and goals as a premier Christian university. Our vision is big, and we very much appreciate your ongoing support, whatever the amount that you are able to contribute.

UNDER THE LARGE CATEGORY COME:

Park Hall façade restoration  (Phase 1) at $12,000. Park Hall is the hub of the SSU campus and is a historic wooden building on the main street of St. Stephen. The external structure of this building which houses the main life of the school has significant points of deterioration that need to be addressed promptly to protect the interior and maintain valuable architectural integrity.

Park Hall windows at $9,200. A successful campaign over the past years has resulted in all but 10 main windows of Park Hall being replaced. Installation of the remaining windows will continue to increase heat conservation and maintain the structural soundness of the building.

UNDER THE SMALL CATEGORY COME:

Updating of Park Hall residence rooms at $1,500 each. The residence rooms of Park Hall are the ongoing living quarters of our student population and we want to make them as attractive, functional and comfortable as possible. Inevitably things wear out or need upgrading and room by room we are attempting to do the improvements necessary.

Installation of attic insulation at Todd Hall at $2,500. The hot water heating system of Todd Hall has recently been renewed and is working well but heat is being lost throughout this comparatively un-insulated structure. Insulation in the attic will provide a cost-efficient solution to some of this loss.

Replacement of the front roof of St. Croix House at $2,500. Part of the roof has been replaced but the front roof needs attention to ensure effective protection of the building rooms and their contents.

Additional items are the rebuilding of the cupola on the roof of Park Hall for $900 to restore the original architectural state and the installation of basement windows for Park Hall for $800 to replace those that were removed during an earlier basement renovation.

Please give prayerful consideration to contributing to this important list of endeavors for strengthening SSU, enriching Christ-centered education for generations to come.
